On the afternoon of August 12, 73 foreign diplomats of 37 countries were invited to attend the meeting of “Hainan Free Trade Port: New Opportunities for Global Investors” in Haikou, who have conducted a heated discussion about the development prospects of the Hainan free trade port and tried to seek cooperation opportunities in the coming future.

On the meeting, Mr. John Aquilina, Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to China, expressed his confidence in Hainan's construction of the free trade port. He stated that with many deep-water ports and frequent trades with other European countries, Malta hopes to establish cooperative relations with relevant shipping ports in Hainan. He also hoped that direct international air routes between Hainan and Malta would be opened in the future, and the two sides could conduct cooperation in tourism, hotel services and blockchain technology.

Ms. Siv Leng Chhuor, Consul General of the Republic of France in Guangzhou, confessed the purpose of her visit is to help French companies gain a better understanding of the investment opportunities in the Hainan Free Trade Port, since some French companies in the energy field have the intention to invest in Hainan. She added that France hopes to deepen cooperation with Hainan in luxury retail, health care and cultural tourism, to promote the economic and trade development of both sides.
